Doha Bank website was adjudged first prize in Qatar in Retail Banks category by the Banking Web Awards Committee at the Intercontinental Phoenicia Hotel, Beirut, Lebanon on 20th November 2009. Shk. Mohamed Bin Hamad Al Thani, Executive Assistant – Management received the award on behalf of the Doha Bank. The ceremony took place at the margin of the United Arab Banks Annual Conference held on 19th/20th November 2009 in Beirut.
The prestigious event was attended by winners of the competition, VIPs in the ICT field, governmental personalities as well as economics, academics, diplomatic, socials, bankers, media and other guest from the Arab region. It was a huge ceremony which includes the awards distribution, gala dinner and entertainment.
The Banking Web Awards announced that over 300 websites were selected for the Banking Web Awards 2009 competition in the following categories: Commercial and Corporate Banks, Private and Investment Banks, Retail Banks, Islamic Banks and Stock Exchange. On the event ceremony, they have honored 45 winners from Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.
Sheikh Fahad Bin Mohammad Bin Jabor Al Thani, Chairman of Doha Bank said that, “We remain the leaders in provision of 'web' based services and access, and will continue to improve these, whilst maintaining the security so critical to these areas.
