Doha Bank has given a major boost to the Qatarisation drive within its Staff force. This effort has been further augmented by the personal interest shown by the Bank’s Chairman HE Sheikh Fahad Bin Mohd Bin Jabor Al Thani and the Managing Director HE Sheikh Abdul Rahman Bin Mohd Bin Jabor Al Thani.
Adequate budget allocation for Training and Development has enabled Doha Bank to achieve creditable Qatarisation levels within the Bank. The Bank currently has more than 30 Qatari staff enrolled in various scholarship programs conducted at distinguished educational institutions in Qatar, the GCC and other Arab countries. Plans have been drawn up to increase the number of scholarships to 50.
Doha Bank had launched a 12-month vocational Banking Diploma Program for its Qatari staff - the first of its kind in the State of Qatar. The program was conducted in collaboration with the Arab Academy for Banking and Financial Services and designed specifically for Qatari staff of the Bank. 27 Qataris were awarded with certificates at a graduation ceremony attended by the Bank’s Executive Management. The trainees were also provided with financial grants commensurate with their grades.
Mr Abdul Rehman Ali Al Mohammed, Head of Human Resources said: “Our Human Resources Department has drawn major plans in conjunction with its Training Center in staff selection and career development. The Individual Career Plan includes comprehensive on-the-job training in various branches and departments of the Bank. Where a Qatari needs additional training such as English language or in computer we recommend their names to dedicated coaching centers. We have also embarked on the implementation of the Individual Development Plan starting with Qatari staff holding post-graduate qualifications and this will be later extended to those with diplomas and high school certificates.”
Doha Bank has a dedicated Training Center on the D’Ring Road and is well equipped with latest state-of-the-art facilities.
Mr Mohd Jaber Al Marri, who was ranked first amongst the trainees in the Professional Banking Diploma, thanked the Board of Directors of Doha Bank and its Executive Management for their generous support and care. He acknowledged that the training imparted in the Bank had brought about a profound change in his attitude and also enabled him to raise his efficiency and productivity in the day-to-day work.
