Mr. R. Seetharaman conferred Best CEO in Middle East Banking Industry 2008
Mr. R. Seetharaman, Chief Executive Officer Doha Bank was conferred by Honourable Dominique de Villepin, Former Prime Minister of France, as the 'Best CEO in Middle East Banking Industry 2008' by the Middle East Excellence Awards Institute at the 5th Leading CEO Summit in recognition of his valuable contributions to the Banking industry in the Middle East, held on 19th March 2008.
Mr. Seetharaman has more than two decades of experience in banking, information technology and consultancy. He is a Chartered Accountant and holds certificates in IT Systems and Corporate Management, whilst being a gold medalist in his graduation Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Madras in the year 1979. Mr. Seetharaman was also recently conferred Certificate of Appreciation from the USA-Commercial Services attached to US Government - Commerce Ministry in November 2007 for his tireless efforts and outstanding creativity in promoting US-Qatari trade and financial ties. Mr. Seetharaman was also adjudged as the 'Banker of the Year' at the 2007 Banker Middle East Industry awards in recognition of his valuable contributions to the Banking industry in the Middle East in May 2007. Mr. Seetharaman, earlier in 2006 was conferred the 'Arab Asian Banker Excellence Award - 2006' at the Annual Arab Asian Forum in Singapore in September 2006.
Mr. Seetharaman is credited with transforming Doha Bank as the best performing bank in the Middle East region over five years. During his stewardship Doha Bank has become a Global Brand, conferred with industry wide awards and recognition since 2003. Mr. Seetharaman played a pioneering role in introducing innovative products and services, deploying consumer centric technology solutions, newer strategic business models etc., and all first of its kind in the State of Qatar. Mr. Seetharaman has extensive experience in integrating people, process, technology and re-engineering. He has excelled in handling multi-dimensional functions within the banking sector and has been responsible for two successful mergers. Prior to joining Doha Bank in 2002, Mr. Seetharaman held senior management positions in three banks in Oman, handling all domains in banking. He started his professional career at one of the global consultancy firms, Price Waterhouse & Associates in India, before moving to banking sector. Mr. Seetharaman is committed to corporate social responsibility by proactively contributing towards social causes besides his initiatives towards creating a knowledge-society. Currently, he is actively engaged in creating awareness to the global corporate community on global warming and climate change - causes, effects and measures. In light of the same he has conducted environmental seminars across the GCC, at Turkey, Singapore, Tokyo, Nagoya, Chennai, Mumbai, Washington and Kochin. Mr. Seetharaman is also one of the most sought after Economist in the Middle East region. Further, on a regular basis, he is called on by CNBC Arabia, CNBC Europe, CNBC Asia, BBC World, Reuters, Forbes, Dow Jones, Bloomberg etc., and host of regional media channels for sharing his opinion and for seeking his expert comments on recent developments and issues in economics, banking, environment etc. In addition, Mr. Seetharaman chairs and addresses the key note for many of the banking and finance industry's knowledge sharing seminars/forums across the globe on a regular basis. Mr. Seetharaman is very passionate about theatre and literature and actively promotes social and cultural arts. He is renowned Quiz Master in State of Qatar and has successfully conducted business-quizzes over the last 3 years, sports-quizzes over the last 2 years and green-quiz since 2007. Recently, Mr. Seetharaman’s business-quizzes held in United Arab Emirates ('UAE') at Abu-Dhabi and Dubai in the month of December 2007 received rousing reception from the corporates in UAE.
